Cop in the Hood is an explosive insider’s story of what it is really like to be a police officer on the front lines of the war on drugs. Harvard-trained sociologist Peter Moskos became a cop in Baltimore’s roughest neighborhood —the Eastern District, also the location for the critically acclaimed HBO drama The Wire. He provides an unforgettable window into this world that outsiders never see. Those who read it will never view the badge the same way.

Always have your driver’s license on you when you drive. If not, please obey all the traffic laws.

My favorite getting pulled over episode:
i was moving from NC to Wi and driving a moving truck loaded with my crap and two drugged up cats (feline variety) in the cab with me. I pulled out of a toll booth near Chicago and had cruisers box me in front and rear, and another unmarked car on my side. My heart raced as I told myself not to move my hands off the wheel and get shot for a mistaken identity. Turns out they were looking for someone in a moving truck who got separated from their elderly parents who were in another car! Nice cops, but they freaked me out for sure.
