Growing Support for Legalized Pot

For the first time more than 40%. Read about it at 538.com.

My world? I would guess 90% of my friends (99% not counting Baltimore cops) and 75% of my students support legal marijuana.

This is pretty consistent w/ my experience. Mind you, I live in Central IL, not Berkley, San Fran or Madison.

Most people in general, especially people in my age group (18-34), are waking up to the stupidity of the current policy. The average people are way ahead of the political class, and the states are ahead of the feds. If we can start to push the fes out of the way (stop the DEA med. marjijuana raids, eventually get congress to re-examine the Controlled Substances act of 1970)we may see real progress in the not too distant future.

It's hard to believe that only 11% supported legalization in 1969... I mean, come on, hippies!
